Bioconversion Technology

Bioconversion is a term that means using a biological organism to convert organic matter (typically waste) into energy or food. In 2014-2015, Maya Culpa participated in early bioconversion experimentation and prototyping using Black Soldier Fly Larvae as a biological organism to turn food waste into high-protein, high-fat animal feed. Our efforts were successful and we are now looking to expand this effort into a commercial enterprise through the Ohio limited liability company, Hermetica Bioconversions.
